CE marking
[ch 7: page 130]Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be “CE marked” under EU Regulation 2016/425 to show it meets product standards for PPE. The directly-acting European regulation came into force in April 2018 and repealed the Personal Protective Equipment Directive (89/686/EEC). It applies not just to manufacturers, but also importers and distributors. Anyone involved in the supply and distribution chain must make sure PPE meets product standard requirements. Trading standards officers enforce the standards.
