You might be able to claim Bereavement Allowance if you are a widow, widower or surviving civil partner aged 45 (or over) until you reach State Pension age. It is paid to you for up to 52 weeks from the date of death of your husband, wife or civil partner.
How much do you get?
The allowance is paid for 52 weeks from the death of your husband, wife or civil partner. The amount of the allowance varies according to your age when you first become entitled to it, ranging from £33.77 a week at age 45 up to £112.55 at 55 and over.
