Migrant domestic workers

Migrant domestic workers are particularly vulnerable to abuse at the hands of bad employers because of their dependence on their employer for their core needs, including visa status, accommodation, food and wages, and their lack of social support, language difficulties and cultural familiarity. A number of claims by migrant domestic workers have been brought in the employment tribunal alleging race discrimination. These are discussed on page 156.
