Practical steps to combat bullying
[ch 11: page 195]Employees should never suffer bullying in silence. The TUC published new online guidance on bullying at work in November 2015: Bullying at work — Guidance for safety representatives, available to download from its website. This gives examples of bullying behaviour including:
• competent staff being constantly criticised, having responsibilities removed or being given trivial tasks to do;
• staff being shouted at, being continuously picked on in front of others or in private;
• staff being consistently blocked for promotion.
