Key changes and developments since last year



• the TUC has provided guidance for safety reps on the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and reported that employers are using it to stop safety reps getting information they are legally entitled to; 


• after less than three years of operation, the government has closed the Fit for Work occupational health assessment service;


• the government sets out its 10-year strategy to reform the employment prospects for disabled people and those with long-term health conditions in the Improving Lives: The Future of Work, Health and Disability white paper; and


• the government has conducted an internal review of the fit note and aims to reform the system over the next two to three years.
