New Tax-Free Childcare scheme launched
[ch 5: pages 70-71]A new government scheme to help working parents with the cost of childcare, Tax-Free Childcare, was due to be launched on 28 April for parents of the youngest children. It will then be gradually rolled out for other parents over the rest of 2017. For every £8 a parent pays in to an online account to pay for childcare from a registered child care provider, the government will pay £2. Parents can receive up to £2,000 a year per child up to the age of 12 (£4,000 for disabled children up to the age of 17). Parents must be in work and earning between £115 a week and £100,000 a year.
