A good workplace policy on ill health should include provision for rehabilitation through flexible working and support for employees returning to work after a period of absence. Employers owe a legal duty to make reasonable adjustments for disabled workers (see Chapter 3). They should also be aware of the government’s Access to Work scheme (see below) and its drive to get and keep more disabled people in work (see Chapter 1).
