7. Equipment at Work
[ch 7: page 117]Changes and developments since last year
• The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has revised and reissued several Approved Codes of Practice (ACoPs) dealing with work equipment.
• An online survey by construction union UCATT found that despite it being a legal requirement for an employer to supply workers with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), 8% of respondents said that it was not supplied by their employer.
• A new draft European PPE directive would mean that companies selling PPE would have to keep records about their stock and ensure products meet required standards if it is adopted.
