Zero tolerance
This means that to avoid liability, employers now need to work much harder to make sure that the organisational climate in which people work is one of dignity and respect — with zero tolerance of bullying, harassment and bad behaviour in all its forms.
There must be clear and well-understood pathways of redress for victims of unacceptable behaviour, and effective training and monitoring to make sure policies are implemented. The key feature of harassment in all these examples is that to be harassment under the Act, the behaviour must be unwanted and offensive to the victim.
