Correction of impairment by medication or treatment
[ch 2: page 20]Where the effects of an impairment can be removed by measures to treat or correct it, for example, drugs or a prosthetic limb, those measures must be disregarded when deciding whether the person is disabled. There is an exception for ordinary spectacles and contact lenses. The impairment must be regarded as having a substantial adverse effect if, without the treatment or correction, it would be likely to have that effect (Schedule 1, Part 1, Para 5, EA 10).
