State benefits and tax credits 2013

Chapter 7

Impact on other benefits

Income Support, Incapacity Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Pension Credit are reduced by the amount of Widowed Parent’s Allowance or Bereavement Allowance paid. These payments are also taken into account when calculating Council Tax Benefit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit and Income Support.

Note: From April 2013 a limit will be put on the total amount of benefit that most people aged 16 to 64 can get. This is called the Benefit Cap (see chapter 1).
