• MEPs have voted for tighter controls on a number of cancer-causing substances.
• The company whose hot tub was identified as the probable source of the lethal Legionnaires’ disease outbreak in Stoke-on-Trent in 2012, JTF Wholesale, has been fined £1 million for breaches of health and safety law.
• The European Commission extended its approval for the pesticide glyphosate until the end of 2017 at the latest and has proposed restrictions on its use, including minimising its use in public parks and playgrounds.
• The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has consulted on proposals to revise, and possibly merge, three sets of hazardous substances regulations including the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations.
