Combating casualisation — the TUC Respect at Work campaign
[ch 1: page 13]In 2014, The TUC launched a new campaign — Respect at Work. Its aims are to:
• stem the tide of casualisation;
• end the abuse of zero hours contracts;
• campaign for a better deal, including better access to permanent jobs, decent hours and pay;
• pay for travel and on-call time;
• secure equal pay for agency workers and an end to the Swedish derogation (see page 58);
• secure the abolition of employment tribunal fees;
• raise the floor of rights for all workers, including:
◊ unfair dismissal protection as a Day One right
◊ statutory redundancy pay for all workers
◊ restoration of collective redundancy consultation rights and TUPE protections;
◊ a new two-tier workforce code;
• improve worker voice, including:
◊ measures to promote collective bargaining;
◊ better information and consultation rights;
◊ worker voice on company boards.
