The Working Time Regulations - a practical guide for union negotiators

As a result of the Working Time Regulations 1998, most workers are now legally entitled to a maximum working week, paid holidays, rest periods and breaks. This LRD booklet explains the regulations, taking account of amendments that have already been made as well as indicating those that are in the pipeline. It gives examples from case law which have helped to clarify the interpretation of the regulations and sets out official guidance from the DTI as well as advice from trade unions. Crucially, it looks at how trade unionists are using the regulations in the workplace to negotiate improvements on working time.
