Adult education cuts
Members of the UCU lecturers' union took part in a protest rally against cuts in adult education in Liverpool from September, which will result in the loss of thousands of course places and widespread redundancies.
Roger Kline, the union's head of equality and employment rights, accused the government of a "slash and burn" funding policy, undermining attempts to build a learning culture.
