Union news

What's in a name?

If all goes ahead as planned, members of the merging Amicus and T&G unions will get to vote on the name of the new union.

Members are being balloted over the biggest ever UK union merger in the next few weeks. If the new union is established in May, as expected, nearly two million members will be asked to vote for one of three names for the new union. The names on offer are OneUnion, Union@work and Amicus T&G.

According to The Times newspaper, Amicus had employed a consultancy to advise on a new name for the union, but found its suggestions inappropriate.
