Keele redundancies prompt UCU action

The UCU lecturers’ union is opposing Keele University’s plans to make more than half of the 67 academic staff redundant at its School of Economic and Management Studies. Members have voted unanimously to ballot for strike action, and to call for a national boycott unless the decision is reversed.

“Despite the university’s best efforts to push these measures through without following the normal procedures, and during a particularly quiet time of year, members have made their feelings clear,” said Keele UCU president Colin Whitson.
