Law Matters

Tribunal chairs

Chairs of employment tribunals can now be referred to as “employment judges” — one of the piecemeal changes made by the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007.

Critics of the change regard it as an unwelcome sign of the government’s drive to make employment tribunals more formal and legalistic, and to diminish the status of lay members (see this month's Law Back-up).
