Compensation uplift

Q: When a tribunal orders a 10%-15% uplift in unfair dismissal compensation, is this added to the basic award, the compensatory award or both?

A: An increase resulting from the employer’s failure to follow the statutory dismissal and disciplinary procedures is made to the compensatory award (under section 124A of the Employment Rights Act 1996, as inserted by the Employment Act 2002).
