The fight to ban asbestos 1995-2000

Tony O'Brien, Construction Safety Campaign, PO Box 23844, London SE15 3WR, 36 pages, A4 size, pamphlet, pst3.00 (pst2.50 for 10 or more)

In 1999 the UK banned the importation, sale or new use of the last remaining form of asbestos allowed - white asbestos or chrysotile. The work of the Construction Safety Campaign over the last five years in the fight for the ban is recorded in this booklet, along with some of the most recent developments in the struggle including the international position and recent UK court decisions. A checklist for monitoring contractors is included, as is a list of useful organisations such as asbestos support groups.

The booklet is an interesting record of aspects of the fight against asbestos and a useful resource for those involved in this struggle.
