Trade unions of the world

Harper Publishing, 410 pages, paperback, pst63.00

The fifth edition of this reference book covers every country from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, and provides some information on all of them. Not surprisingly the amount of material varies greatly from country to country.

The entries for Western Europe, the USA and some others generally include details of individual unions, but many entries only contain details of trade union centres.

In addition to the specific information on unions the book also contains brief descriptions of each country and their political and economic backgrounds, along with whether or not they have ratified the relevant ILO conventions. A useful tool for those dealing with international union issues.
