Pensions fat cats

Pension tax relief for top earners in the private sector far outweighs the cost of public sector pensions, the TUC’s “Decent pensions for all” campaign has revealed. Taxpayers are paying £2.50 subsidising pensions for the richest one percent of the population for every pound spent on paying pensions to retired public servants: 25% of the £37.6 billion in relief provided in 2007-08 went to those earning more than £150,000 a year.
