Inflation posts another fall

The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) was down to 2.6% in September from 2.9% in August. RPI inflation has been on a downward curve since October last year, apart from a blip this July.

Under the government’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — annual inflation was down to 2.2%, down from 2.5% the previous month.
