Inflation down

The inflation rate as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) was down to 2.9% in April from 3.3% the previous month The RPI has been downgraded by the Office for National Statistics. A new experimental statistic — RPIJ — had inflation down to 2.3% from 2.7% the previous month.

Under the government’s preferred measure — the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) — annual inflation was down to 2.4% from 2.8%.
