Recovery stalls

The recovery in manufacturing stuttered as output in the three months to July was down by 0.6% on the previous three-month period.

On a happier note, factory output was 2.6% higher than the same three-month period in 2013.

Nevertheless, there is still some way to go before the sector gets back to pre-recession levels as factory output is 7.6% below its peak of the first quarter of 2008.
