Transgender network launched

The CWU communication workers’ union launched a network for transgender members at its recent LGBT equality conference. The network will be hosted on Facebook.

CWU equality officer Linda Roy encouraged branches to publicise the forum, saying: “We hope it can be used to share experiences and get advice from other transgender members who are having similar experiences.”

The conference passed motions on a range of subjects including the role of equality officers and how much release time they receive, gender restrictions on uniform ordering, homophobic bullying, HIV diagnosis and equality monitoring of CWU membership.
