Call for changes

Jörg Hofmann, the new head of Germany’s largest union, IG Metall, has called for changes in the operation of the German union confederation, the DGB.

Speaking at the union’s conference at the end of October, he said that the DGB needed to be reinvented because the existing boundaries between industries, which are also the boundaries between the DGB unions, no longer work as they did.
