PCS political fund

Members of the PCS civil service union have voted overwhelmingly in favour of retaining their political fund. The union said the 91% vote in favour gives a boost to “our fight against the government’s new anti-union laws and further cuts to public spending”.

It noted that the turnout, at 23%, was “respectable” but “highlights the limitations of postal voting and strengthens our call for the government to modernise the system and allow secure electronic workplace balloting”. Unions have been calling for this in response to accusations of low turnouts in strike ballots.
