Public sector job losses

Research by the Italian public services union FP CGIL has found that key parts of the public services have lost 75,368 posts between 2001 and 2015.

The study looked at central and local government, together with health. It reports that, among permanent employees, there has been an 18% fall in full-time jobs. Meanwhile, part-time employment increased by 85%.

The number employed on flexible contracts also fell over the period, by 29%.
