Clarification
Roger Lyons, general secretary of the manufacturing science and finance union MSF, has asked us to clarify a point in our story on the union's merger discussions with the AEEU (Labour Research, December 1999). Lyons points out that the union is operating at a surplus. The debt he inherited on taking office has been paid off and is not a factor in the merger discussions.
