TUC Congress rescheduled

The TUC postponed its annual Congress following the death of the Queen.

The gathering was due to be held between 12 and 14 September, during the official period of mourning. It will now be held between 18 and 20 October.

Meanwhile, several unions pulled their September strike action (see page 5). The CWU communications union suspended a strike at Royal Mail, which had been due the day after the Queen’s death, while the RMT, ASLEF and TSSA rail unions suspended their strikes.

Separately, the TUC is holding an in-person event in London on 6 October for new and experienced trade union reps across the UK. The Unionreps Connect 2022 event will provide learning sessions, training workshops and collaborative spaces for reps to discuss the issues they are facing in the workplace and advice on how to support their members.

More details are available from the TUC website.
