Disability action

A new film putting disability issues in the spotlight is set to be viewed by thousands of trade unionists, thanks to the TUC's education department (see page 13).

Produced for the Disability Rights Commission (DRC), the short film Talk is the flagship initiative of the DRC's debut campaign "Actions speak louder than words". The campaign aims to promote equality for disabled people.

The TUC will be distributing video copies of the film to its network of 250 tutors who deliver TUC courses each year to around 30,000 trade union reps. All reps attending TUC courses in the coming year will view the film, which challenges commonly held perceptions of disability.

The TUC will also be running screenings of Talk for its own staff, as well as showcasing the film in the foyer of its Congress House headquarters in London.
