Law Matters

... and for homeworkers

The government is proposing changes to the National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 so that they deal better with the question of the rate of pay for homeworkers. The "fair estimate agreement" in the current legislation may be replaced by a requirement to pay the minimum wage for all the hours worked or a fair piece rate proposal.

National minimum wage regulations are available from www.dti.gsi.gov.uk. Responses are needed by 9 May 2003.
