The directory of management consultants in the UK 1999-2000

Management Information Publishing, PO Box 3700, London SW1E 5NP, 827 pages, hardback, £120.00 (including p&p)

When management consultants turn up the office door or factory gate, trade unionists are likely to want know who they are, what they might be doing and what they are getting paid for their services. The Directory of Management Consultants in the UK provides a helpful insight into this "world obsessed with secrecy" and is aimed at "everyone who has found it difficult to get information about this complex industry".

Over 3,000 consultancy firms are listed alphabetically, with a summary of their main activities, address, and membership of professional associations. They are also indexed by "functional specialism" (for example career/redundancy counselling or job evaluation) and the region in which they are based. The introduction contains a table of consultants' average daily fees.
