Unions protest over job cuts

Members of the civil service unions are continuing to oppose job cuts and privatisation, lobbying MPs last month over cutbacks in the defence and work and pensions departments.

Staff from the Defence Aviation Repair Agency (DARA) in Wales headed to London to protest at possible privatisation, and plans to force through 500 redundancies at the St Athan site.

Jobcentre, benefit office, probation and Child Support Agency staff also travelled to London to oppose the expected 30,000 job cuts, and relocation of a further 10,000 jobs out of London and the South East.
