Sellafield staff get 3.78%

The Prospect union’s engineering and managerial members at Sellafield Ltd have agreed to a 2.5% deal with a further 2.5% in bonuses, paid quarterly. The offer, tabled during last ditch talks to avoid strike action, sees consolidation of 1.25% of the bonus into salary from March 2009, resulting in a deal worth 3.78% for the nuclear workers. Peter Clements, chair of Prospect’s Sellafield section, said the government’s pledge in July to invest millions in the north west “energy coast”, and a belief that no more money could be gained, had convinced members that this was the wrong time to pick a fight.
