Tribunal fees

Since 29 July 2013, an unfair dismissal claim carries an issue fee of £250 and a hearing fee of £950 (2013-14). The same fee is payable no matter how small the claim. Some low paid workers will qualify for fee remission. Many unions have made arrangements to lend members the fee, to be repaid if the claim is successful. Contact your union to find out the position.

A claim will be rejected by the tribunal if it is not accompanied by the fee or a properly completed application for remission. Even if the claim is rejected, the time limit for bringing the claim will continue to run.
