Living Wage in Bristol

The South West TUC is calling on all the candidates standing for the post of elected mayor in November to support the idea of a Living Wage of £7.20 an hour.

Bristol City Council is a big employer and the regional TUC believes that it should take the lead in guaranteeing that no one gets below that amount.

Supply chains are becoming an increasingly important consideration when it comes to bargaining and the TUC also wants the council to use its huge purchasing power as leverage.

The TUC says the council should use that buying power to make the case for the Living Wage and champion it among private sector suppliers.
