LRD Annual General Meeting
Recruiting, organising and campaigning with young workers will be on the agenda at this year’s Labour Research Department AGM on Monday 20 May.
Marking the TUC’s Year of Young Workers, UNISON’s Kendal Bromley-Bewes (who proposed the idea at Congress) will highlight the challenges, in what the TUC has described as a “perfect storm” of wage stagnation, insecure jobs and insufficient training opportunities.
It’s time, she told Labour Research last month, to “do something big about it”. It is in individual unions and workplaces that effort needs to be concentrated, Kendal has argued, and she is well placed to explain to AGM delegates how that is being achieved.
The AGM starts at 2.00pm and will be held at Jerwood Space, 171 Union Street, London SE1 0LN.
All members and affiliated members are entitled to attend. They are also entitled to nominate candidates for election to the 17 Places on the LRD board of directors for 2019-20.
Nominations must reach LRD by Thursday 28 February.
