Finnish strikes continue

Action by Finnish unions protesting against government plans to restrict the right to strike and make other changes to the country’s industrial relations system have continued.

Strikes disrupted transport and energy services plus a range of other industries on 14 December. Jarkko Eloranta, head of the main union confederation, SAK, apologised to the Finnish public, but said that political strikes were the only response open to the unions.
