Arts cuts

Unions have raised serious concerns about a Suffolk County Council proposal to cut its entire arts budget.

"The arts play a crucial role in Suffolk's local communities, providing employment opportunities and enriching the lives of its residents," said Equity performers' union regional officer Iain Croker. He said the cuts "risk undermining the vibrant arts scene that Suffolk is known for, potentially leading to long-term consequences for the region's economy and social fabric".

The Musicians' Union said cutting the £500,000 budget is a saving of just 0.07% of the Council's overall budget for 2023-24.
