CCA is no more

The Centre for Corporate Accountability (CCA) formally closed on 28 August, much to the sadness of unions and safety campaigners. Its international director David Bergman announced his resignation from the organisation at the CCA conference in July. A letter from Ana-Maria Pascal, the CCA UK director, informed subscribers to its Corporate Crime Update that it would cease publication. The organisation was unable to secure funding for its activities.

The CCA played a vital role in campaigning for the Corporate Manslaughter Act, as well highlighting other safety failings. It supported families of work death victims and worked alongside unions and the Hazards Campaign. Its closure is a loss to the health and safety movement in the UK.
