Civil Aviation ballot ‘first’

Members of the Prospect specialists’ union at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have voted overwhelmingly in favour of industrial action, in the first ballot of its kind to have taken place in the authority. The dispute is over pay, and follows survey evidence that 42% of employees are considering leaving, due to poor pay and reward, excessive workload and not feeling valued by the organisation. Mike Clancy, the union’s general secretary, said: “More than a decade of real terms pay cuts have left our members at the CAA with no choice but to take industrial action”.
