Research on MSDs

High levels of stress contribute to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as back pain and repetitive strain injuries, according to new research published by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

And separate HSE research has found that conducting assessments for pushing and pulling loads can reduce the risks and prevent MSDs.

The role of work stress and psychological factors in the development of musculoskeletal disorders (RR273) is available free of charge at www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrpdf/rr273.pdf

Review of the risks associated with pushing and pulling heavy loads (RR228) can be downloaded free from www.hse.gov.uk/research/rrpdf/rr228.pdf

Both are also available from HSE Books, priced £20 and £25 respectively.
