Metalworking fluids linked to breast cancer

Women in jobs that involve metalworking fluids may have a higher risk of developing breast cancer, new research suggests.

A study of nearly 4,700 women working at a large car plant in the USA found that the risk of breast cancer increased in tandem with exposure to soluble, oil-based metalworking fluids.

A report on the research by Deborah Thompson and others was published in February's issue of the American Journal of Industrial Medicine.
